Press Release

Oregan Networks offers Browser 2.0, a slim version of its TV web browser and User Interface engine, on a royalty-free basis, following launch of advanced version 3.0

London, United Kingdom, 29th November 2004 - Oregan Networks, the UK embedded browser company behind Sony's European PlayStation 2 online gaming portal access software, has announced today a new pricing strategy for its standard web UI and internet access features, introducing an option for a license buy-out.

Jean-Luc Droitcourt, VP or Business Development at Oregan Networks said, "Our decision to offer an alternative pricing model for version 2.0 of Oregan's browser is determined by our intention to stimulate proliferation of web standards within the CE market, by means of offering tangible incentives to device manufacturers and distributors of connected devices."

He added, "From the commercial perspective, it provides our customers with a cost-effective web UI solution for high volume markets. In contrast to proprietary UI technology implementations, Oregan's product follows World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) recommendations and additionally presents a benefit of remote upgrade, allowing the consumer to download the latest features or a new version of the open access browser via internet connection on a Set Top Box or CE device."

Oregan TV Browser 2.0 enables internet access featuring support of standard web content authoring formats: HTML 4.01, JavaScript 1.5, CSS, DOM, as well as PNG with 8-bit alpha mask and optional support for Macromedia® Flash®.

Strategic to the company's product is its advanced font engine technology that supports Asian and Arabic languages, requiring more challenging encoding and rendering mechanisms. Oregan's web based UI solutions satisfy the requirements associated with bi-directional web content, various word and phrase composition specifics, and ornamental text graphics, such as diacritics and ligatures.

Oregan's embedded TV Browser 2.0 features an economical footprint of approximately 2 MB, and can be shipped either as stand-alone web UI module or pre-integrated with home networking and VOD client solutions, enabling tiered vertical content services.
